ENIS, born and raised in copenhagen in a kurdish household, is an avant-garde r&b artist and creative director, who has achieved significant milestones as a one-man-team. both in his personal as well as in his professional life. he was 16 when he fled from home to california, 17 when he came back and found himself completely alone. from one day to the next, he lost his ground, his home and his people, because of his truth: being gay in a kurdish family.
enis knew from a very young age that he was made to tell stories through music and art, which became an outlet to channel his emotions. losing his family, he built his home in his own voice. he spent years traveling nomadically, living out of a suitcase, and piecing himself together. refusing to accept defeat - enis founded his own independent label imprint enisrecords, taking up the roles of manager, a&r, creative director and marketeer. under the label he released his debut ep, e01 demo collection earlier this year.
enis’ public outing in the wake of the release of his debut single fadeaway brought about more hatred from his family who is still hoping his sexuality to be “only a phase”. death threats followed. unperturbed, enis has built more resilience than he ever imagined possible and boldly resolved to continue telling his story – giving a voice to queer youth everywhere. an inspiration for those who dare to embrace their truth.
